Not able to view the portlet preview

Hi all,
I am not able to see the preview of the portlet,
The portlet type, weatherportletsample, is returning an unavailable status{2}.
You will not be able to use the Details, Defaults or Preview tabs for this portlet. Any changes to the other tabs will take effect immediatly.
Please contact your administrator to resolve the problem.
I am not able to find where the error is please, help me.

Check if the portlet.xml has this lines:
<supports>
<!-- [...] Other portlet modes --> <portlet-mode>config</portlet-mode>
</supports>
Reg - Portlet Preview
Hi,
The preview mode shows the view portlet mode, while the Details Tab in vignette console represent the config mode.
1. Before deploying the portlet app did you configure the web.xml of the application for vap.
2. Did you get tick mark against the deployed portal app in
Server consolet Portlet-> portlet applications.
3. Check the app server logs and VAP logs for more info on that error
